its a double-edge sword. First, there is no excuse for this soldier to commit this crime but at the same time; international laws and internet legalities protect the host site from legal action. At the same time and many soldiers wont say this; this has been going on for almost ten years. Soldiers who havent deployed dont understand the amount of stress and impact this had done to military members. Numerous deployments with no end in sight does affect morale. Yes, there are the many who without gripe will see this through and deploy dozens of times if need be to defeat the war of terror.

I believe another posture can be implemented that will not cost the tax payer money and this country so much money and put the soldier and marine in a compromising positions when it comes to the rules and engagement.

Afghanistan should have been the focus with 110% commitment since 9/11.

I will go to combat and do what my country asks but not necessarily agree on the manner they are going about it. I swore an oath but as soldier's from Captain and below; you never get the bird's eye picture.

    Rant over and out lol

Soldier accused of leaks arrives at U.S. brig

    The Associated Press
    Posted : Friday Jul 30, 2010 14:47:03 EDT

WASHINGTON — The Army says a soldier charged with leaking U.S. war secrets to the Wikileaks website would be tried at a military installation in the Washington area if a general court-martial is ordered.
A spokesman for the Military District of Washington says Pfc. Bradley Manning was being processed Friday into the brig at the Quantico Marine Corps Base in northern Virginia after arriving overnight from pretrial confinement in Kuwait.
The 22-year-old intelligence analyst is charged with leaking more than 50 diplomatic cables, plus classified helicopter cockpit video of a 2007 firefight in Baghdad that left a Reuters photographer and his driver dead.
Manning also is suspected of leaking tens of thousands of secret Afghanistan war logs that Wikileaks recently posted on the Internet.

Report: Wikileaks suspect blasted Army, society on Facebook

Army broadens inquiry into disclosure of classified materials

AP This undated photo obtained by The Associated Press shows Bradley Manning, the prime suspect in the leaking of Afghan war files to the whistleblower website Wikileaks.org.

    msnbc.com
updated 16 minutes ago LONDON — Bradley Manning, the prime suspect in the leaking of the Afghan war files, raged against his Army employers and "society at large" on his Facebook page in the days before he allegedly downloaded thousands of secret memos, a U.K. newspaper reported Saturday.
The U.S. Army intelligence analyst, who is half British and went to school in Wales, U.K., appeared to sink into depression after a relationship break-up, the Daily Telegraph said. It quoted Manning as posting he didn't "have anything left" and was "beyond frustrated."
In an apparent swipe at the Army, Manning also wrote: "Bradley Manning is not a piece of equipment," and quoted a joke about "military intelligence" being an oxymoron, the Telegraph said.
The Facebook revelations come as The New York Times reported that Army investigators were broadening their inquiry about the recent disclosure of classified military information to include Manning's friends and associates who may have helped the alleged leaker.
Manning, 22, is on suicide watch after being transferred from Kuwait to a Washington, D.C., prison, where he is awaiting court martial.

He is suspected of leaking more than 90,000 secret military documents to the Wikileaks website in a security breach that U.S. officials claim has endangered the lives of serving soldiers and Afghan informers.
Supporters claim the war logs leak exposed Afghan civilian deaths covered up by the military.

His uncle, Kevin Fox, told the Telegraph that the soldier’s arrest and imprisonment in a military jail had taken its toll on his mother, Susan, who lives in Haverfordwest.

“She hasn’t been well,” Fox told the paper, adding that if Manning had leaked the documents: “I think the boy did the right thing.”
Wow, what a family. Sorry not feeling much sympathy.
