Thread: amred forces false advertisment

it seems these days you damn near need to be a modle citizen to enlist.. i dont have a single violent crime or felony on my record but still not one branch of the armed forces says i dont qualify cause of my record even though its all been 5yrs ago an some of my cases have been expunged
just seems a little wrong that i am not allowed to serve my country cause i have to many misdemeanors..(seems alil unjust if you ask me) all have wanted to do since i was 10 was wear a uniform an serve my country even in time of need(9/11) they turned me down.

It has been a dream since I was a young child to be in the military too. So I lived my life accordingly. I stayed out of trouble, made sure my actions aligned with the army values, educated myself ( eagle scout and bachelors degree) and made sure i was physically fit for service. Did I have problems enlisting. No not at all. But i worked hard at it and made sacrifices on my path to enlistment to ensure it would be a easy process. I would sure hope they would choose a candidate like me over someone with multiple law violation issues. It's fair and just in my mind.

Also that speaks a lot about someones character and I dont necessarily know if I would want that type of person covering my back in battle. Once trust is broken its broken.

Remember serving your country in the military isn't a right you have as a citizen.

really!!!! because i have two duis and some other things on my record it means that iam not qualified to cover another brother in arms while in battle...your a retard first of all if your in the heat of battle an your thinkn of that shit... once that first bullet flys by your head all politics race and other crap goes right out the window... the problem wit enlisting sorry ass wimps like your self is that you dont know wat its like to have problems and deal with them.. i cant stand silver spoon fed people like yourselve all ways thinkn your better than every one else. your right its not my right to serve my country but if iam allowed to vote then i believe that means i should be allowed to fight for that vote just cause some one has no criminal history dont mean squat... just means they did not get caught...

You are really just making it easier to see why the recruiters are staying away.

First off, getting in with one DUI is tough, but two. That is remote. It shows that even after the consequences you faced the first time you were fine doing it again. Which definitely goes against the army values of Respect and Integrity. If your so callous at following the law of the land, what happens if your in battle? In my mind not having respect for the rules or integrity to know what is right and wrong makes you more of a liability in war. If I can't trust you to follow the law how the hell can I trust that you have my back in war? I can't plain and simple.

Sorry ass wimp? Because I decided to have discipline? Live an honorable life? Work hard? be a good citizen? Not get behind the wheel of a car when I am drunk I think not. I have had my fair share of problems and I worked through them, thats a bullshit statement. I worked hard to get what I have and I did it on my own. No one gave me a silver spoon, I paid for my own college, i pushed my self to excel academically, I solved my own problems. I never said I was better than anyone. I just know that my actions have consequences down the road and have a respect for the rules.

Again i repeat being in the armed forces is not god given right. Just because you vote doesn't mean you allowed to enlist. The military takes who they want and says no thanks for those they don't.

Actually you are wrong there, convicted felons lose their right to vote for the rest of their life. Someone with a criminal history is in direct violation of the Army values all soldiers live by: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage.

Not everyone is out breaking the law. that's naive to think. I would dare say a majority of people have respect for the law. That is a very ignorant statement.

If anyone is the dumbass here it is clearly you. You did not think how your actions (which you and only you are responsible for) would come back and haunt you. You clearly cannot and refuse to see that the only person you can blame for your inability to enlist is yourself. The Army sees that the life you have lived does not align with what they look for currently right now in their soldiers. Nothing more you can do here but hope that down the road they reopen the waivers for criminal history and they take a chance on you.

In the meantime you should work on growing up a bit and taking responsibility for your actions.

All I see is someone who more than likely can't find a job and was looking for a free handout from the military.You have a blatant respect for the traditions and value of the Army. Just from you posts I can tell your that kind of person that crys and complains when things don't go your way. Man up, you F*cked up, its your fault you cannot enlist, don't blame the army because you didn't have enough sense to not drive drunk twice and still have a blatant disregard of the law. It would be a sad day when I would have to call you a brother in arms and as of now I hope it never happens.
