Post Preident Obama and Nobel Peace Prize

    This is strictly my opinion;

I voted for President Obama with his promisses of ending the wars and bring us troops home, however I like thousands of other voters am starting to get buyers remorse. (He seemed like the lesser of two evils)

He really hasnt done one thing other than being the first African-American person to be elected as the President of the United States of America.

I think this Honor of the Nobel Peace Prize is just way too early and should be recinded until he does something to end the wars. IMO he has talked the talk but has not walked the walk. He should not accept the award.

i agree, he hasn't DONE any of the things that the award was given to him for. they should add a stipulation that the award will be granted apon completion of promises and otherwise will be given to the runner-up.

oh, and IMO, he is not the first African-American to hold the office. He is simply an American in office that happened to have the darkest skin-tone. I believe the man was born in Hawaii and Hawaii is one of history's biggest cultural melting pots that would make Obama no more African than French (who had a large presence in Hawaii right before becomeing part of the U.S.)

    Born in America=American
Born in Africa and later becoming a U.S. citizen=African-American

p.s. didn't mean to rant Dibble, but "political correctness" is the biggest cause to the failing union of Americans. when Obam goes over-seas he is just an American and i dont think Africans consider him to be an African. just my O.

I believe they start to overdo things with him. There are others who have done more but are less known: Merkel, Sarkozy, the Pope, even Putin.

in one of the articles i read about it, it said that the prize was intended not to just go to someone that has made great efforts towards peace, but to a person that had the power to achieve the most. being the president of the U.S. deffinatley gives him that power and his intentions seem in the right place, but i still think they jumped the gun because we havnt seen him do anything yet.

    thought i'd share these qoutes:

Ali Abkar Javanfekr, a media aide to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad
"We are not upset, and we hope that by receiving this prize, he will start taking practical steps to remove injustice in the world. If he removes the veto from the United Nations Security Council, then it shows the prize was given correctly to him."

    Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman
"He has done nothing for peace in Afghanistan ... We condemn the award of the Nobel Peace Prize for Obama."

these were basically the only negative qoutes that Time posted. but most of them were right along with what we all have expressed

I was reading up on this in another forum, and came across a guy who suggested that the nobel peace prize should be rewarded to the military as one whole. I totally agree it is not just one person who strives for peace, it takes more than one to achieve anything, it takes a military.

many would rais the arguement that peace through superior firepower is not what the Nobel Prize commitee has in mind for thier award. if that was the case though, the American military surely has the widest spread effort towards that goal lol

^^ China by far has the largest Army as far as men and with some of their air support.

But overall superiority still belongs to us.

I agree, so far I havent seen him do anything. Yeah, hes held tons of speaches talking about peace, but has done pretty much nothing to back up what hes said. Yeah, so what, he was the first black President, but as a commander in chief, hes done nothing to cause any kind of peace, nor has he done anything to help the world.
If you ask me, him "earning" the peace prize has nothing to do with his abilities to create peace as much as it does with the color of his skin...
You ask me, it should be taken away until he can do something useful for human kind.
